This past weekend, Amanda and Brandon held their Dr. Who themed wedding at Saunders Farm in Munster near Ottawa. It was a hot day, but there was plenty of Pepsi and Dr. Pepper around to help their guests stay cool (the couples origin story involves soda). The sci-fi enthusiasts had a glowing Dr. Who Tardis on each table, used the sword Sting from Lord of the Rings to cut their cake, and a late night Star Wars light sabre battle. They also the wedding vendor dream-team working for them as well: the venue was Saunders Farm, planning by Live Love Plan, cinema by First Kiss Films, ceremony by Exceptional Ceremonies, flowers by Full Bloom, hair by Mint Hair Studio, make-up by One Fine Beauty, music by PM Event Services, and a dress from With Love Bridal. I have never worked with a more exceptional collection of professionals at any of my previous 100+ weddings and I hope that we all work together again soon! Congratulations Amanda and Brandon!

Finally. My good friends Lisa and Darren are married! This was a wedding that I have been looking forward to for a long time and it certainly did not disappoint. We laughed, we cried, we got rained on (some more than others), and we loved every minute of it. Lisa looked amazing in one of the nicest wedding dresses I have ever seen, Darren didn’t loose his wallet, and their daughter Ella was as endearing as ever,  so it was a pretty good day all around.

This was also the first time I had photographed a wedding at Le Belvedere in Wakfield, Quebec and it quickly became one of my favorite venues. I would also like to add that the French Toast at the Wakefield Mill Inn & Spa was pretty damned tasty.

I had a great time photographing Meaghan and Alex’s wedding at Temple’s Sugar Camp last month. Not only were they great to work with, but they have a wild group of friends which always makes things more interesting later in the night – especially when there is a photo both! Shannon and Jared decided that Halloween night would be a great time for a quick wedding at the National Gallery of Canada, and I couldn’t have agreed more. After their first look on the balcony overlooking the sunken garden, we cruised around the building making some unique portraits before their ceremony under the giant spider that stands guard in front of the museum. She made her own wedding dress and his custom overcoat matches his guitar perfectly. Here are a few of my favourite frames!

If anyone else had told Katelyn that rain was good luck on a wedding day, I think that person would have been attending the wedding via Skype from a hospital bed. It rained and she cried, but then she smiled and suddenly the rain didn’t matter anymore. “I promise to love you forever” were the words they told each other when they fell in love in high school and these were the same words repeated on their wedding day.
