Blair Gable

On a rainy afternoon in September Ling and Di Yu were married under a stone pavilion at MacDonald’s Garden Park in Ottawa.

I first met Lisa and David almost two years ago when they started looking for wedding photographers. David and I had known of each other through a few mutual friends, so I was very excited to work with them on their wedding day. They are the kind of people that you wished you had known for longer, and hope to stay in touch with over the years. The speeches made by  friends and family made it very clear how appreciative they were to have Lisa and David in their lives. The Maid of Honour described their relationship as, “a deep and comfortable love that seems to have already existed for ages but is bubbling with new excitement.” Perfect, right?

Museum of Nature

A dream team of vendors came together for this wedding. This was my first time shooting at wedding at the Museum of Nature and it was incredible! As always, it was great to work with Chic Wedding Planners, Tulips & Maple Catering, Keith from Exceptional CeremoniesWEDECOR, Full Bloom Floral Design, Matt Jacques DJ Services, and Dominion City Brewing Company!

Congratulations Lisa and David! You can see more of my work at Third Floor York.

Chantal and Simon held their wedding the day after the year’s largest thunderstorm, in the middle of a yea wave, ripped through the Ottawa region. Everyone was very thankful that Mother Nature got it all out of her system a day early. The couple’s intimate wedding at Strathmere, a country Inn south of Ottawa, had a definite vintage theme. Chantal wore a 1950’s inspired wedding dress and bird cage veil and Simon rocked the bow tie and suspenders. Once the music started, a Michael Jackson imitator emerged along with a choreographed group-dance to Bust-A-Move by Young MC. The weather was perfect, the food was great, and Chantal and Simon definitely have this love-thing figured out.

Rachael and Paul were married in late September and planned an amazing wedding, including a humanist minister and a live band, for the family and friends at the Cove Inn in Westport. Ontario resort weddings are something that I would love to shoot more of. There is a level of intimacy and comfort that comes from these lakeside celebrations. Everything about this wedding was very intimate, especially the gifts they gave to each other – custom cat-nose cufflinks for him and a jar of 101 reasons why Paul loved Rachael for her. It was definitely worth the hike up to the Spy Rock lookout in the Foley Conservation Area. A long weekend visit to Westport is definitely happening next year!

Cheers, Blair

My good friends Mimi and James are finally married! They took care of business at Ottawa City Hall with a small group of family and friends, then we all enjoyed an amazing dinner at the Métropolitain Brasserie & Restaurant. Congratulations you two and I hope you enjoy the photos!
