I had the pleasure of shooting Nicole and Geoff’s wedding at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier and a few days after their wedding we were at it again – this time it was a day-after shoot in the ByWard Market. A day-after shoot is basically an engagement portrait session that happens a day or so after the wedding. Sometimes the couple wear their wedding day finest, and other times they hit Holt Renfrew for some new threads.

Earlier the summer I was in Sault Ste. Marie to shoot a wedding, and Meaghan and Jason asked if I had some time to shoot their engagement portraits while I was in town. We braved the mosquitos and freezing cold ankle deep water from the St. Marys River to make these great photos on Whitefish Island.

Next year I will be heading north of Toronto to photograph the wedding of Jaclyn and Tyler, but this year we spent some time in Toronto’s Distillery District creating their engagement portraits.

Fairy-farts. That was the theme for this engagement session. Fairy-farts. Lindsay’s phrasing, not Steve’s. I just roll with it. To me “fairy-fart” means juxtaposing ideas. So we started the shoot among the remaining blossoms at Lincoln Fields (fairy portion), then took to the Island Parkway on Steve’s Suzuki motorcycle (fart portion). I was hanging out the back window of a moving vehicle to capture them in motion – a la my $100-million Ferrari shoot.

I have no idea why it took so long to post these, but my good friends Darren and Lisa got engaged and I shot these pictures. They are already married for Pete’s-sake!
