Last night, I received a little surprise before rolling into bed. Five of my images from weddings last year received awards in the Wedding Photojournalist Association’s (WPJA) Q4 wedding photography contest!

1st place – Wildcard Portrait

Last year ended great, and 2017 is off to a good start!

Amy and Alan are the kind of people that I love getting to know; fun loving, quirky, romantic, and easygoing. They held a beautiful Great Gatsby-inspired wedding at the Museum of Nature and Sala San Marco last summer and I was very excited to photograph their big day. It was a real pleasure to get to know them and photograph their engagement session and wedding. Their images are presented in black and white because I felt it complimented there timeless and intimate qualities.

Jessica and Patrick were married at a beautiful church in Pembroke, Ontario before moving the party across the boarder to Chichester, Quebec. I have photographed so may of Jess and Pat’s friends weddings that I have lost count. A few years ago I shot a phenomenal wedding at the North Fork Country Kitchen, but I was blown away with how they transformed it from a rustic barn into a really fancy barn – like fancy AF. The dessert bar was bananas. Not actual bananas, but like crazy-good-bananas. The meal was prepared by Ullrich’s On Main in Pembroke and was one of the best meals I have ever had at a wedding. What an amazing time for their family and friends; congratulations Jessica and Patrick!

Wedding of Kate and Mike held at wonderful wedding at the Britannia Yacht Club in Ottawa. After getting ready with only their closest family and friends, they saw each other for the first time while surrounded by the art and architecture at the National Gallery of Canada. Some inclement weather forced them inside for the ceremony, but we managed to make some great portraits outside without getting a soaker. As always, the Britannia Yacht Club was a great space for this personal and authentic wedding. Congratulations Kate and Mike!
