Blair Gable

Being a bridesmaid 7 times prior to my own wedding, I had a few opportunities to see some major train wrecks when it came to wedding photographers. Given my experiences, I already had a pretty good idea about what I wanted and definitely didn’t want when it came to my photographer from both a talent and operational standpoint. I always knew I wanted a photojournalist, so like many others, I started my search online. I came across Blair’s name on the Wedding Photojournalist Association’s website. His quirky attitude, comical nature and outstanding abilities were quite apparent through his both his blog and his website. Before I even spoke to him, I knew he had to be mine!

When it came to choosing Blair Gable as our wedding photographer, it was the easiest task to cross off our list! It was easy to feel confident in entrusting him with our photo memories and we couldn’t have been more comfortable and excited about working with him. In the days leading up to the wedding, Blair was very organized and attentive to what we wanted from our photos; his work was important to him and our photos were important to us! As a photojournalist, he is stylistically set a part from your average wedding photographer and he was able to tell our story with photos of candid, intimate, and spontaneous moments. Blair fit right in with family and friends and has become more than just a photographer to us! We would highly recommend Blair to any bride and groom as he is a truly unique, talented and special photographer.

Simply stated, Blair is awesome. We were impressed with his professionalism throughout and thrilled with the end result. We can unabashedly recommend him. Having photos that fit the style and feel of our wedding was a priority for us. Blair seemed to understand what we wanted even when we weren’t sure how to express it. He kept us focused and on track in the lead up to our day and made it feel easy. Most importantly he has a distinctive style, likely a product of being a working photojournalist and not a portrait photog. It was exactly what we had envisioned when we set out to find someone to shoot our wedding and he still managed to surpass expectations with the final product. If you can get him, I honestly don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Blair is absolutely fantastic! From the first day we met with him, we knew he was the perfect photographer for us. His laid back attitude combined with his professionalism and unique approach to capturing the story of the wedding couple put us at ease right away and really impressed us. His efficiency during the obligatory family shots was like nothing I’ve ever seen…it was really quite remarkable and much appreciated (after all, we wanted to get back to the party!). Many of our guests have commented on his style of photography, saying that our wedding photos are the best they’ve ever seen. We couldn’t agree more! Blair came highly recommended to us and we wouldn’t hesitate to pass on the same recommendation. Thank you Blair for such a wonderful experience.

In the months since our wedding, Mike and I have found it a favorite pastime to look over the beautiful and unique wedding photos that Blair took for us. The day itself felt like a whirlwind, and it is a pleasure to be able to look back on its events again and again at a more leisurely pace. Blair was very accommodating and found an artful way to capture the balance we were hoping to achieve by holding our unconventional wedding at the Chateau Laurier, a most conventional place. The easy elegance and charm of the collection reflects this balance exactly. Since we decided to keep our wedding very intimate, the photos Blair took have also been a wonderful gift, as they have enabled us to share our experiences with the family and friends who were not there with us. We are so pleased to know that we’ll be able to share this special event in our lives with our children someday.

The excitement of the engagement was followed by a million different thoughts about cakes, guests, flowers-the list was endless. While all of these aspects were important to us, we knew that hiring a great photographer was our number one priority. We met with several photographers, but Blair’s style was unlike the others. We weren’t interested in being told where to stand or when to smile-we wanted someone who would photograph our day as it was unfolding, our true emotions, someone who would capture us being ourselves. Blair turned out to be that someone. He was a pleasure to work with, very professional and relaxed. We couldn’t be happier with the results, everyone who sees our photos comments on how amazing they are. These photos will forever remind us of the awesome memories that were made that day, we are so glad that Blair was able to beautifully capture our wedding day.

Picking a great photographer was a top priority for our wedding, we wanted someone who would capture our day the way we remembered it.  From our first meeting with Blair through our engagement photos to the wedding he was a pleasure to work with.  His professionalism and passion shows through the quality of his work.  We felt that he truly captured the spirit of the day as well as all of the people involved in the wedding.  The final product was exactly what we were looking for to remember our day.

– Kelly + Tomas, married June 2010

When we first met Blair, we were absolutely taken by his ability to immediately put you at ease: modest, easy-going, and excited about shooting the most important day of our lives. His portfolio was stunning, his professionalism was noted, and we fell in love with the photo-journalistic style Blair offers. Never interfering, Blair was a smooth operator on our wedding day, capturing all the details and all the sweet moments with creativity, sincerity, and above all, passion. We could not have asked for a better day to celebrate our love, and Blair was a large part of our success. We would certainly recommend Blair to another couple looking for a “capture-the-moment” photographer.

– Brigitte + Tim, married July 2010 at the National Gallery of Canada

Blair came highly recommended by our wedding planner and after our very first meeting, we were convinced by his portfolio, professionalism and creativity that he was the photographer to shoot our non-traditional wedding. Our experience with Blair was nothing short of outstanding! He truly impressed us with his passion for photography and was totally committed to “getting the shot”. Blair was an absolute pleasure to work with before, during and after the wedding and his stellar photos speak for themselves. We continue to receive compliments on our wedding photos and are truly thankful to Blair for capturing the essence of our wonderful day!

We were trolling the Weddingbells message boards looking for good references on photographers; after a lot of reading and investigating of other photographers that were mentioned, found one reference to a couple who had booked with Blair and whose wedding was coming up.

We were looking for someone who would shoot the wedding in what we understood to be a true ‘photojournalist’ style, with a lot of good candid shots rather than anything too contrived. Unlike some of the other photographers we met with, we found Blair to be very straightforward, unpretentious and were pleased with his responsiveness in terms of post meeting followups. We were also particularly interested in using Blair due to his flexibility in regards to the provision of personal use rights for the digital photos, which was a very important determining factor to us – we can look at our wedding photos from our computers on a regular basis, which increases our enjoyment of the photos tremendously. We were very pleased with how the day went and how the photos turned out.  Blair was very easy to work with and was able to accommodate the range of photographs that we were looking to capture. We would unreservedly recommend Blair to another couple looking for a wedding photographer.  He is a very talented photojournalist who was a pleasure to work with.
