Fairy-farts. That was the theme for this engagement session. Fairy-farts. Lindsay’s phrasing, not Steve’s. I just roll with it. To me “fairy-fart” means juxtaposing ideas. So we started the shoot among the remaining blossoms at Lincoln Fields (fairy portion), then took to the Island Parkway on Steve’s Suzuki motorcycle (fart portion). I was hanging out the back window of a moving vehicle to capture them in motion – a la my $100-million Ferrari shoot.
I have no idea why it took so long to post these, but my good friends Darren and Lisa got engaged and I shot these pictures. They are already married for Pete’s-sake! You can see their wedding photos here if you dig – Darren + Lisa’s Le Belvedere wedding. Anyway, we shot their engagement session in and around the Hintonburg area. Enjoy!
I got off a few frames in the nice light before the sun found a huge cloud to hide behind for the rest of my engagement session with Kristen and Cory at Hartwells Locks on the Rideau Canal. But, when you have flat light, you work with what you have left; and sometimes you make a bit of your own nice light.
I woke up this morning to an email informing me that I had won four awards and placed 3rd overall in the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada Winter 2013 photo contest. This is the second time I have placed third overall since I started entering these contests last year. I also placed 9th overall out of 40 award winning photographers for all of 2012. The latest award winners were shot during an engagement session at the Shore Club, and weddings at St. Patrick’s Basilica, Westin Ottawa and Sidedoor Restaurant.
