I made the trek up to Irish Creek Farm in Ryanville, Quebec (about an hour north of Ottawa near the Mont Sainte-Marie ski hill) to photograph Bonnie and Ryan’s wedding; or the Murphywood Affair as their guests had dubbed it. It was a simple country-style wedding turned gong-show. The weather was quite foreboding, but thankfully the rain held off until after the ceremony and after their guests had a few drinks in them. It was a new venue for me, which is always a good thing, and I met a fantastic caterer – The Grateful Griller – a great concept and delicious food! I mean, he served bacon wrapped pickles cooked in a ceramic barbecue, how can you go wrong?
I have been looking forward to photographing Carita and Tim’s wedding since I first met them; they are a great couple who are fun to be around and easy to laugh with. They were referred to me by friends/clients Kelly and Tomas and I am very glad that I was able to document their wedding day. The bride ‘iced’ the groom. If you don’t know what that means, check it out on You Tube. She had it taped to her leg for the garter toss – it was awesome! I also learned what it means to be ‘buffaloed’. If you are caught drinking with your right hand you have to chug your drink and if you chug your drink with your right hand you have to chug the next one too. The moral of the story is always drink with your left hand, so you can greet someone like a man or throw a punch. Needless to say, people had a good time.
Between all the laughter and tears, the cute Finnish accents and the crazy-ass drinking games it was definitely a party to remember!
